Vroom Vroom: Car Valentines DIY
Vroom Vroom: Car Valentines DIY
If your kid loves all things cars, this is such an easy last-minute classroom valentines idea or party favor. Perfect for the 4-8 year old range.
Obviously not reinventing the wheel with this one. But the cost was super reasonable (under $2 per valentine / party favor) so I wanted to share. Click through to see how they turned out.
Materials
Hayes went with me to pick out the cars. It seemed like Target (in-store) had the best price for Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars (around $1.20 each or a 5 pack for $5.99). There are about 20 kids in his class, so we picked out that number of cars. It was fun to pick them out together. There were certain cars that he thought particular classmates would like and we took out time with itt. Made it a fun activity for us to do together.
To get costs down even more (and reduce waste), you could also search thrift stores for toy cars. I saw a huge bag of Hot Wheels last time I went (unfortunately it was after I had already bought the cars for this) for $7! And there was at least 20 in the bag. After a quick wash, they would have been perfect for this.
I actually bought an affordable font for this, that I’ll reuse for something else. But you can easily use a font from the free version of Canva or something similar.
Car Valentines / Party Favors
Probably self explanatory, but just in case… I created the printable in photoshop. Sized it down, printed, and cut them all out. Then, I stuffed them in the canvas bags with the toy cars, and they were ready to go. Hayes signed the bottom of each one and we wrote the names of each person on the outside of the bags as well.

Another thing you can do to add something fun to valentines and party favors, is using this rolling stamp from Amazon. It’s meant for teachers to create dash handwriting lines for kids to practice letters, but it looks just like a road imo.
We have one (the exact one I linked) and use it at home when we’re bored and wanna create a long racetrack for toy cars and things like that. But it also looks cute as decoration for party bags, cards, etc.
Car Valentine Phrases to Try
Here’s a list of car phrases you could use for a car valentine. Most of these would work for birthday party favors as well.
- You are ‘wheelie’ cool.
- You are just my speed.
- I never ‘tire’ of you, Valentine.
- I’m ‘wheelie’ glad we are friends.
- You make my heart race.
- I like how you roll.
- Racing by to say Happy Valentine’s Day.
