Two youths arrested for robbing three Coimbatore college students of laptops, mobile phones | Coimbatore News

COIMBATORE: Sundarapuram police in Coimbatore city arrested two youths for attacking three college students with iron rods and robbing them of their laptops and mobile phones in Eachanari on Sunday morning. The police recovered two laptops and three mobile phones from the robbers.
The arrested youths have been identified as R Gowtham, 21, of Machampalayam and S Kamalakannan, 27, of Kurichi.
Police said the three college students — S Tejaskumar, 23, of AN Pudur village in Krishnagiri district, R Balakrishnan, 19, of Puliyampatti in Erode district and K Sabari, 19, of Pudukkottai — were staying together in a rental room at Ayyappa Nagar at Eachanari in Coimbatore. Tejaskumar is studying third year B Tech (information technology), Sabari was doing second year B Tech (artificial intelligence and data science) and Balakrishnan is studying second year BE (mechanical) in a private college at Eachanari.
Around 5am on Sunday, two youths wearing helmets entered the room, threatened the three students at knifepoint and assaulted them with an iron rod. They robbed them of three mobile phones and two laptops. The three students suffered minor injuries and were treated as outpatients in a private hospital.
Tejaskumar approached Sundarapuram police who registered a case against the two unidentified people and traced their whereabouts. They arrested the duo on Sunday night and remanded them in judicial custody.
