Tumakuru Road Flyover: Tumakuru Road Flyover Opening Soon for HTVs | Bengaluru News | Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: After a gap of over two years, Tumakuru Road flyover stretching from Goraguntepalya to Parle G toll plaza is likely to be opened for heavy vehicles soon.
On Monday, National Highways Authority of India approached traffic police to facilitate load testing on the flyover. During the test, movement of all types of vehicles will be prohibited on the flyover. The three-day load tests are likely to start on January 16, though the details are subject to clearance from traffic police.
For three days, all vehicles moving towards Nagasandra from Yeshwantpur side and vice-versa will be diverted to the road below the flyover.
Load testing is required to open the flyover for movement of heavy traffic. NHAI project director KB Jayakumar said heavy traffic will be allowed after getting clearance from experts.
“We have completed the task of installing additional strengthening cables. Now, we must do the testing for close to 60 hours by running trucks on the flyover. After the test, an assessment will be made by experts. Once they give green signal, the flyover will be opened for movement of heavy vehicles in a couple of weeks,” he added.
On December 25, 2021, movement of all types of vehicles was banned on the flyover after NHAI found fault with three prestressed cables during a routine inspection. After carrying out repair work, light motor vehicles were allowed in February 2022, but prohibition on heavy vehicles continued.
