Work With Jupiter and Saturn in 2025: Be Who You Are

Hi There and Welcome back to another show of the Kelly’s astrology podcast.

Today’s episode is inspired by a couple of quotes about being who you are, as well as thoughts about how to work with Jupiter and Saturn in 2025.

Since we’re still early in the year, I know many of you will be thinking about goals, plans and intentions for 2025. I want to share tips on working with Jupiter and Saturn as guides or inspiration for the year ahead.

If you’d like even more insight about the astrology of 2025, my 2025 Year Ahead forecast webinar is now available for immediate download. You can find out more or grab your copy here

Today I’d like to start with a quote that’s been inspiring me a bit lately, and I think it’s kind of relevant given the focus of new year new you themes that pop up so much around this time of year.

This quote is by Marion Woodman. It says:

“It is easier to try to be better than you are than to be who you are.”

This got me thinking as so often we try to be more or better than who and what we are, instead of just being ourselves.

It reminded me of another quote I’ve used in teaching in the past by Dr Edith Eger, an American Psychologist and Holocaust survivor. This quote says:

“We do not change until we are ready

Change is about interrupting the habits and patterns that no longer serve us

When you change your life, it isn’t to become the new you, it’s to become the real you.”

It’s from a beautiful book called The Gift: 12 Lessons to Save Your Life

Both of these quotes might be helpful for you as you think about how you want to explore, grow and adjust your life for the year ahead.

Transits, Timing and Jupiter and Saturn

With those quotes as inspiration, let’s turn our attention to two of my favourite planets to work with around timing, which are Jupiter and Saturn.

One simple way to connect with the energy of Saturn and Jupiter in terms of timing and by transit can be around the idea of adding and subtracting.

During a Saturn transit, you might like to remove, reduce or minimise certain things, while in a Jupiter transit you might think about adding, expanding or upgrading.

If we weave these ideas into the transits of Jupiter and Saturn for the year ahead, let’s explore what that might look like.

Jupiter in Gemini and Jupiter in Cancer: Opportunities and Improvements in 2025

In 2025, Jupiter will spend part of the year in Gemini and part of the year in Cancer.

Jupiter will be in Gemini until June 9, when it will move into Cancer. So from the perspective of Jupiter, there is the first half of 2025, with Jupiter in Gemini and the second half of 2025 with Jupiter in Cancer.

Get Curious and Experiment with Jupiter in Gemini

Jupiter in Gemini, until June 9 is more scattered and has a shorter focus, as well as more flexibility. This has to do with both the nature of the sign of Gemini and the qualities of a planet in detriment.

So when you might think of adding things in under Jupiter in Gemini, you might opt for short, test runs or trials of new things.

You might follow your curiosity, or focus on new things to do with the air element and the planet Mercury, like new kinds of connections or technology, new learning and ideas or new experiences and experiments. This is very much learning and growing through gathering data, trying things out, seeing what happens.

Sustainable Growth and Deep Nourishment with Jupiter in Cancer

Jupiter in Cancer, after June 9, is more sustained and nourishing kind of Jupiter. You might be willing to initiate a new plan, protocol or habit, but you now do so with the view of honouring your choice over time. This is partly due to the nature of Cancer, where things can be sticky, and partly to do with the nature of a planet in exaltation.

So when you think of adding things in under Jupiter in Cancer, you might research and plan before diving in. You might explore what would feel comfortable and safe, and what you might be able to continue as a tradition or new ritual. You might focus on things to do with the water element and the Moon, which can be about emotional ties, matters to do with history, home and safety, or around food and caring for your body.

Of course you can further personalise the adding in or upgrading themes of Jupiter by considering the topics of the Gemini and Cancer houses in your chart too.

Saturn in 2025: Healing in Pisces and Redefining Independence in Aries

Now let’s turn our attention to Saturn. Saturn will spend most of the year in Pisces, but will have a short tour in Aries from the end of May to the start of September.

If you’re thinking about the year as a whole, with this bird’s eye view, June, July and August are the main Saturn in Aries months.

So there’ll be two kinds of Saturn to work with in 2025.

Fix the Energy Drains with Saturn in Pisces

Saturn in Pisces – a transit that first began back in March of 2023 – will continue to invite you to reduce or remove tasks or people or obligations that drain your energy, that deflate you emotionally and that dull your spirit.

You might think of Saturn in Pisces as a call to reconnect with the divine, or to remember your dreams and spiritual self. To do that, you may need to subtract something that is preventing you from doing so.

Saturn in Pisces, a sign ruled by Jupiter, a benefic, might help you get back on track with activities or hobbies that soothe your soul and move your spirit, that give you meaning or help you feel purposeful. This may come from first being honest about what you’re involved in that’s not doing that, so you can begin the process of subtracting or removing that which you’ve outgrown or has served it’s purpose.

Saturn in Pisces might help you remember some of your bigger, more substantive dreams and help you get clear on what’s in the way of them.

Deal with Aggravation with Saturn in Aries

For the three months or so that Saturn is in Aries, that idea of subtraction still exists, but now we’re thinking of experiences and activities that actively irritate or aggravate you, that might even anger or frustrate you. These will be the things to remove, reduce and minimise your exposure too.

Saturn in Aries, a sign ruled by Mars, might require a more bold or dramatic removal strategy. Saturn is in fall in Aries and your intentions to subtract things might lead to some short term tension or disagreement, or they might reveal where your priorities might be different from those around you.

Saturn in Aries has more of an immediate short term focus, and that might come with pressure or worry that if change isn’t made right away there might be issues.

Saturn in Pisces has more of a longer, big picture focus and there’s more patience around slowly unwinding patterns that have been in place for sometime.

In either instance I’m hoping you get the feeling that working with Saturn can help you reduce or minimise duties that have begun to deplete you more than they offer you security, stability or protection.

Work With Jupiter and Saturn in 2025

So to summarise, working with Jupiter can help you add in meaningful experiences and help you grow through being outside your comfort zone and trying new things.

Working with Saturn can help you clarify who and what is important and help guide you towards what could be removed or minimised.

Be Who You Are as Inspired By Jupiter and Saturn

Tuning into the planets is ultimately about helping you become more of who you really are, rather than trying to be something you’re not, and that mission is always a valid undertaking, whether it’s a new year, your birthday or just something you’ve got space and time to attend too.

Of course there is definitely more to working Jupiter and Saturn than these ideas, but I hope this helps you get started in thinking about how adding a few meaningful new experiences in can be a way of working with Jupiter, and how subtracting what’s become increasingly effortful can be a way of working with Saturn.
