If you are shopping for back-to-school (or work) lunch supplies, check out my recommendations for the best lunch-packing products that we have loved using over the years.

To enjoy a good mid-day meal at school or work, you need lunch supplies that’ll keep your meals at the right temperature and won’t leak.
After having packed lunches for over a decade now, here are some of the products that I love and recommend.
Lunch bags
When shopping for a lunch bag, here’s what I look for:
- Leakproof.
- Front flaps with easy access to snacks.
- Insulated.
- A slot to hold a water bottle.
- Sturdy enough to last at least a year, if not more.
Note:
- Always have backups of kids’ lunch supplies in case they forget their lunchboxes at school (my kids have done it several times!).
- I have listed a few options for both kids and adults. All of these come in different colors than what you see in the images below. If you don’t like the one you see here, click on the image to go to the site to find other colors/options.
- Kids Lunch Box – Option 1
These cute bags have great reviews, and if your kid loves to match stuff, they sell coordinating backpacks too! The only con is that it doesn’t have a slot for water bottles.
Great for toddlers and preschoolers!
- Kids Lunch Box – Option 3
This is a good option if you own a Bentgo lunch box. You can place the lunch box horizontally, and it fits a full meal with snacks and drinks.

Lunch box containers
Here’s what to look for when buying lunch box containers –
- Easy to open.
- BPA-free.
- Leak-proof.
- Will keep food at the right temperature.
- Environmentally friendly – no single-use plastics.
I prefer glass or steel containers when I pack lunch for my kids or for work. Here are the ones we use to pack lunches and snacks –
Snack containers
You’ll love these environment-friendly options! No need to use single-use plastic anymore.
- Reusable silicone containers
I love these Zip Tops for sandwiches and snacks! They are easy to open and close. I use them to pack a week’s supply of roasted nuts or trail mix so the kids always have a healthy snack when they need them.
Thermos
Having a thermos comes in handy when you don’t have access to a microwave at school or work. It is also helpful when you have limited time to eat and don’t want to stand in a line to heat your food.
Tips for buying thermos:
- When buying a thermos, make sure it is wide-mouthed and can store food warm for at least 4-6 hours.
- 10 oz –14 oz is a good size for kids. For teens and adults, I would recommend at least 16 oz.
Note: To ensure that your thermos keeps your food warm, follow the instructions below –
- Fill your thermos with boiling water. Put the lid on.
- Let it sit for at least 5 minutes, and then pour the water out.
- Add steaming hot food (at or above 74°C or 165°F).
- Secure the lid.
