LS Poll Defeat: Fear of LS Poll Defeat: Congress Targets BJP Netas | Mangaluru News
Mangaluru: Leader of opposition in Karnataka legislative assembly R Ashoka said that the Congress leaders in the state are worried over a possible collapse of government, if the BJP wins all the Lok Sabha seats.
Ashoka told reporters on Sunday that due to fear of defeat, the Congress government is trying to suppress the BJP workers by reopening old cases.“The BJP has raised its voice against government’s such move. When Ram Mandir is getting ready for inauguration in Ayodhya, Congress leaders like BK Hariprasad, Yathindra Siddaramaiah and Siddaramaiah are speaking against it. The Congress leaders are scared of the success of Ram Mandir construction. Now, the Congress is trying to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims as the party has a fear of the minority community distancing itself from it. They are desperate to woo members of a particular community,” he alleged.
On Hariprasad’s claims that there is a possibility of ‘Godhra-like incident’ in Karnataka, Ashoka said, “If he has any details, let him share it with police. The police department should serve notice to BK Hariprasad and collect details on his statement.”
On selection of candidates, he said the BJP has already completed two surveys. “The party high command will decide on fielding fresh faces in the Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
When asked about dissent in the party, Ashoka said, “I have already spoken to V Somanna and the central leaders have spoken to Basangouda Patil Yatnal. Differences of opinions are common in politics. Don’t you see factions in the Congress,” he said.
To a query on state government issuing a circular to hold special puja in all the muzrai temples on January 22, Ashoka said the BJP has already given a call to hold special puja not only in muzrai temples but also in small temples in the state. “The government would have issued a circular to claim credit,” he said.
On the Lok Sabha elections, he said the BJP has a target to win more seats and a special meeting to discuss preparations for the polls will be held on January 8. “About 40 selected leaders will take part in the meeting,” Ashoka said.
‘Guarantee schemes will last till LS polls’
Later, at a party workers’ meet, Ashoka said that the Congress government has failed to distribute compensation to farmers. “The state saw 550 farmer suicides in the past seven months. However, the Congress is busy with guarantee schemes, which is hindering overall development of the state. There are no funds to carry out development works in the state because of the guarantee schemes, which are being implemented very poorly. The Congress will continue the guarantee schemes till the Lok Sabha elections and thereafter will stop it,” he claimed.
