(Last Minute DIY) Valentines Plants Idea
(Last Minute DIY) Valentines Plants Idea
There’s plenty of valentine ideas out there, but the ones that involve plants are the best, in my opinion. This valentine is super easy and can be adapted to anything really – classroom valentines, teacher gifts, significant others, etc.
I fully admit that I am one of those people that think that plants are in acceptable gift for any occasion. But that’s because THEY ARE.
DIY Plant Valentines
There’s not much to it – just grab a plant, put it in a pot, and add a hand drawn label. But the idea is cute and thoughtful. I mean, I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t appreciate a little plant gift (no matter how many they already have).
The cutest part is getting kids involved in writing the name plates / messages.
You even utilize plants from your own yard if you have enough time for plant propagation.
I ordered the plant tags here and they were really affordable. BUT you could just as easily make them yourself with thin cardboard from a cereal box or something else along those lines.
Plants to Use
Obviously, any type of plant would be fine for this gift. And it really depends on the person you’re gifting it to. But if you want some suggestions, here’s a handful…
- String of turtles are an option I really like. They’re unique looking, with their turtle shell leaf pattern and non-toxic to pets.
- Anything variegated! Variegated plants (which means it has leaves with more than one color) are special! Anyone who likes plants would be happy with a variegated plant of some kind.
- Speaking of variegated…satin pathos plants have cool leaf patterns.
- Succulents are easy to find and hard to kill. Enough said!
- Mini rubber plants
Planters / Containers to Use
Want to make this gift even more custom / special? Make the planter this plant will be planted in!
I have a list of 23 diy planters that might help or make paper bag valentines, which are just as cute imo. Something as simple as wrapping old calendar pages or newsprint around starter pots would work great as well.
P.S. If these last-minute valentines aren’t your thing, I have a big list of 47 homemade valentines gifts (and classroom valentine ideas) that you might like.
