Dibrugarh: Brindaban Bora, a 31-year-old convict who had been on the run for the last six weeks after escaping from the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH) during a routine health check-up, was arrested by the Jorhat police from the Mokokchung district of Nagaland on Saturday night.
Bora, who had been convicted and sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment by a court in a rape case, managed to escape from the Jorhat Medical College and Hospital in the early hours of November 24, despite being in handcuffs at that time.The incident had sparked a triggered manhunt by the Jorhat police to recapture the fugitive.
Police on Sunday said the fugitive was found at a hideout in the Mokokchung district and the Nagaland police played a pivotal role in his arrest.

Nashik crime branch unit 1 police arrested Vijay Patil, wanted in a murder case for 8 months. Patil and friends killed a puncture shop operator for not filling their two-wheeler’s tire. Adgaon police registered the murder case on April 30. Patil was arrested near Batuk Hanuman temple with a knife by a team formed by PI Vijay Dhamal. Adgaon police are investigating.
