IAF exercises: Mumbai airport curbs from January 12-14 | Mumbai News
MUMBAI: The Mumbai airport and Juhu airport will be shut for flight operations for an hour in the afternoon for three days between January 12 and 14 to make space for IAF air exercises over Marine Drive on these days.
The airspace below 12,000 feet over Mumbai will be shut to civilian flights and so the two airports will be shut from 12 pm to 1 pm on January 12, 13 and 14, stated a notice issued to airlines, pilots and stakeholders by the air traffic control.
No flights will land or take off in Mumbai during this period, though flights will continue to overfly the Mumbai airspace at altitudes above 12,000 feet. Airlines were informed about this closure in advance, so no flight will be affected, said an airport official. No airline flight operates out of Juhu airport, which is India’s busiest helipad, with a majority of helicopters engaged in offshore operations.
