Garbage Free, Water+ Ratings: City Gets 7 Stars | Surat News
Surat: The Diamond City has done it gain — it has got seven star rating in garbage free city category and water+ city status. Other two cities are Indore and Navi Mumbai who got seven star ranking.
A total of 4,320 cities have participated in star rating as part of Swachh Sarvekshan 2023. The city leaders will be awarded at the Swachh Sarvekshan 2023 award ceremony on November 11 in New Delhi in presence of the President of India, Droupadi Murmu.Surat is the only city to get seven star rating in Gujarat.
For garbage free rating, bifurcation of garbage, processing capacity, green and dry waste processing, waste recycling and reuse is assessed. Use of sweeper machines on road, city beautification and other parameters are examined.
For the year 2022, the rating given was a five star rating. To improve performance, the city civic body focused on areas like zero encroachment and garbage processing.
For water+ rating, a city is assessed for its efficient drainage network, drainage connections, reuse of waste water and processing of waste water in processing plants.
Surat Municipal Corporation succeeded in getting 2,500 points that include, 1,500 points of seven star rating and 1,000 points for water+ category. “How many points the city scored out of the remaining 7,000 points will be announced at the award ceremony,” said a SMC official.

Leakage is possible in both pipes during the construction process.
Bajaj Finance increases interest rates on fixed deposits by 25 basis points, introducing a 42-month deposit with an interest rate of 8.6% for general public and 8.85% for senior citizens. The 42-month ‘digital fixed deposit’ can be booked through the app, online, or at branches. The rate increase follows RBI’s directive to finance companies to diversify funding sources.
