EPS urges TN govt to catch leopard causing among people in Nilgiris | Chennai News
CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday urged the Tamil Nadu government to trap a leopard that was causing fear among the people of Gudalur in the Nilgiris district.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, he said the forest department had caught leopard which had attacked people and terrorised them for more days. It had attacked two women and two children, killing a woman and a child.Forest department personnel tranquilised it and taken it to the Vandalur zoo.
“But now people say they have seen another leopard in the same area in Panthalur block,” he said..
“This animal should also be trapped and alleviate the fear of the people,” he said.
He said the government should establish booths of the forest department in areas bordering habitats to monitor the movement of wild animals.
Palaniswami urged the government to enhance the compensation for the victim’s kin to Rs 10 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for the grievously injured people. Source link
