PRAYAGRAJ: Dressed as Mahatma Gandhi with round spectacles and ‘lathi’ in his hand, a Karakitti (Karnataka)-based man is marching towards Ayodhya on foot, covering around 2,000 km distance.
Ahead of the grand consecration ceremony of Ram Temple on January 22, Muttna Tirlapura, arrived in Sangam city on Sunday evening. Carrying a placard with photos Ram Temple, Gandhi and other revolutionaries in his hand, Tirlapura was seen raising awareness about the temple at Magh Mela campus and inviting the people to be a part of the ceremony in Ayodhya. The Karnataka man also laid stress that people should follow the footprints and principles of Mahatma Gandhi. “Gandhi ji used to speak ‘Ram naam’ in his daily life. Even his last words were only ‘Ram’,” he said, adding that any freedom fighters have laid down their lives for the country. People should follow their values and take inspiration from their struggles.
“I have been travelling for well-being and progress of the country as well as countrymen,” he said. “God has given me enough strength to do better and travel long distance between Karikatti and Prayagraj via Vijaypur, Solapur, Nanded, Wardha, Nagpur and Jabalpur,” he added. Continuing his journey, Tirlapura left for Sultanpur on Monday.
