Water Works: Providing Tap Water to All Villages in Shiggaon Assembly Segment by December – Bommai Haveri | Hubballi News
Haveri: Work on providing tap water to all villages in Shiggaon assembly segment under Jal Jeevan Mission will be completed by December, said former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
He spoke after performing the bhoomi puja for the work to provide drinking water to every house as part of Ganga Scheme under the Jal Jeevan Mission for 2022-23 at Tadas village in Shiggaon taluk on Sunday.
Bommai said the scheme was funded by both the state and the Union governments. “Out of Rs 438 crore earmarked for Jal Jeevan Mission scheme for Shiggaon, Savanur and Hangal taluks, Rs 3 crore has been given to Tadas village. Around 2,500 houses will get tap water,” he claimed.
Bommai also noted that even after 75 years of independence, several villages were denied drinking water in the state. “As many as 25 lakh houses were given tap water in the last 25 years but in the last three years, 30 lakh houses have got tap connection. This credit would go to the previous BJP government,” he added.

Union parliamentary affairs, mines and coal minister Pralhad Joshi alleged that the state government has been trying to weaken evidence in the DJ Halli and KG Halli riots case by saying miscreants are innocents.
Speaking to reporters before laying the foundation stone for development works at Tadas village on Sunday, Joshi said “Congress people have decided to save people of the minority community for appeasement politics. Who has submitted the report on Srikanth Poojari that he is facing charges in 16 cases? What action will be taken against them? CM Siddaramaiah has decided their government should be like the Taliban, but people will give an answer shortly.”
Joshi also reacted to former CM Jagadish Shettar’s remarks on Srikanth Poojari. “Why is Shettar not putting efforts to withdraw cases on Poojari? Why were his words not accepted by the government now? Why did Shettar not withdraw the cases while he was a minister and MLA in Hubballi? I never answer such childish statements,” Joshi said.

What villagers want: Piped water, roads and drainage
Residents in Delhi’s rural and urban villages demand basic amenities such as piped water, proper drainage, parks, and roads. They also call for sporting infrastructure and ownership rights for family-owned properties. The government should carry out a GIS and drone-based survey to protect gram sabha land in rural villages and resolve land ownership disputes in urbanized villages. The survey findings will help in preparing village development plans and creating necessary physical and social infrastructure. Additionally, the government should plan parks, playgrounds, air-conditioned community centers, and ponds rejuvenation in these villages.
